We’ve been talking the last few weeks about user experience annoyances, turn offs, and bad practices that will drive customers away from using your product, program, website, etc.  The key here is that when you are dealing with any project that involves UX -it can benefit your project immensely to have an outside consultant.  Most people think that reaching out to a consultant is a last ditch effort, when that’s not the case at all.

You don’t have to wait until a building has fallen down to call in a contractor.  You can call ahead of time, get a little expertise so you don’t make the mistakes in the first place, and build it right.  This is very similar with engaging with a UI/UX consultant. You don’t want to wait until you’re losing customers or after you’ve already poured all your funds into finishing your product.  You want to engage with someone when you’re still in the works.  A consultant can help you to form your vision.

Because User Interface/User Experience (UI/UX) design is so critical to a project it can determine whether your software wins or fails, it’s important you work with a skilled, experienced UI/UX design firm.

J&S Tech Designs brings you that expertise. We make sure your software features are intuitive, obvious and user-friendly. We make sure the application makes sense to your users, so they are engaged – not confused.

Don’t make the mistake of trusting this significant business decision to someone with an insufficient understanding of the technology and the processes behind the technology – which could have a profoundly negative impact on the success of your software. We’ve seen through this series, that even the smallest mistakes or oversites on your part can translate into massive failures for your whole project.

Taking the first step to make the call and set up a meeting is sometimes the hardest one, but after you take that initial step you have the support and expertise that you need to make your project a success.

Have you engaged with a UI/UX consultant?  What have your experiences been?  What types of projects are you working on?

Here are a few of our favorite UI/UX design successes:

Streamlining processes through simplified user experience

I helped a leading repair provider make it easier for automotive repair shops to purchase parts. I developed an electronic catalog that combined multiple vendor systems into one easy-to-understand user interface – which simplified the user experience and streamlined the entire process of ordering parts.

Complex UI/UX design

I designed the entire UI/UX for a medication therapy management software application. The software helps pharmacists work with patients to understand their prescriptions. The software is incredibly complex, with over 100 screen and thousands of work flows, and yet the exceptional UI/UX design provided these pharmacists with an effective, efficient solution.

Community Q&A forum

For a leading provider of OEM automotive repair software, I designed a community Q&A forum, including all interactions and workflows. I also completely redesigned the company’s shop management quote system for maximum efficiency.
